If you like horse riding in Andalusia, Hípica Aguamarga is the perfect riding centre for you!
Hípica Aguamarga is a family-owned equestrian centre, located in beautiful surroundings in Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, Almeria Province, three kilometres from the small white fishing village of Agua Amarga. Agua Amarga is one of the most characteristic and picturesque villages of this exciting region, with a wonderful sandy beach and crystal clear water. Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park is one of the few sub-desertic areas in continental Europe and was the first maritime and terrestrial Protected Area in Andalusia.
Our riding centre has large facilities, perfectly integrated in the desert landscape, with whitewashed stables, a 40x60 arena and many paddocks following the natural contours of the area.
We have a great variety of horses, ponies and donkeys, suitable for riders of any age and ability. Children adore our small ponies and our sweet donkeys!
Hípica Aguamarga offers year round livery stables, where horses are cared for withindividual attention, 24 hours a day.
Our specialty is Guided Riding Tours throughout the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.
The horse riding centre Hípica Aguamarga collaborates with a registered non-profit Association that works to improve conditions for donkeys and mules in Spain called EL REFUGIO DEL BURRITO. The objectives of El Refugio del Burrito are the provision of care, protection and permanent security anywhere in Spain for donkeys and mules which are in need of attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances, ill-usage or other like causes and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among donkeys and mules. We are happy to offer our contribution to this wonderful project by giving shelter to some of these animals.

This ride follows a natural path through a dry river bed (Rambla) near our riding centre. It is perfect for beginners and children.
This ride is suitable for more the more experienced rider. It follows part of a dry river bed and ends at an old and unusually big olive tree, which is thought to be more than a 1000 years old.
The ride follows a path across a large hill until reaching the marvellous, remote Cala de Enmedio beach. There are usually only very few other people and you can ride right along the beach and water´s edge, which is one of the most memorable experiences anyone can have.
For this ride you will need some riding experience. We follow the path of the old railway towards Lucainena de las Torres, a small town located in the mountains of the Natural Park. You will pass the 1000-year-old Olive Tree and take the path of the old mineral loading bay of Lucainena.
El Plomo is another fantastic virgin beach. The ride leads us first to Cala de Enmedio and continues to the beach of El Plomo, framed by beautifully shaped cliffs. Here we can canter along the water’s edge.
Our longest ride takes us to El Llano de Don Antonio, one of the most important villages within the municipality of Carboneras, some 9 kilometres away from Agua Amarga. The tour takes in yet another aspect of the Natural Park.
